Catfish are biting especially up around Van Buren
I think they're biting all over the lake. We caught some up that way last weekend but caught some nicer ones on jugs around Horshoe bend the week before last. They have been some good eating too!
Take care,

are ya'll getting Channel Cats or Blues ?? The Blues are supposed to be getting pretty good sized there.
I've fished there since it opened. Back then, when first fishing it for Crappie, you couldn't put a minnow anywhere near the bottom, without the chance of catching a Bullhead :p rather than a Crappie. Fast forward several years, and no Bullheads, but the Channel Cats are going strong. I've even made trips there, specifically to fish for Channels ... castnetting Shad, cutting them in half, fishing them under a float, out in front of the main lake pockets ... with reasonable success. Now they've stocked Blues, for the last several years, and they're supposed to be getting respectfully large. Should I assume that my Channel Cat fishing method would work for Blues  Or should I be concentrating on a different method, or bait ??

Only caught two cats yesterday as I was ( how can I say this w/o being band from site) Bass fishing. Both channel cats. Spoke to several folks who were cat fishing and they all were having good luck but didn't give specifics on what type of cats.
Don't worry buddy .... you won't get banned for fishing for, or catching, fish other than Crappie. :D This is the KY Board, and I approve of (and encourage) the fishing for whatever gives you the pullage you seek. :p
Besides, I'm subject to Bass fishing every now & again, myself  Spent many a year chasing 'em, tournament fished for them, and ate my share of them. Don't care much about eating them, nowadays ... practice C&R on all of them. But, I have fished for them ... and caught them ... and have the pics to prove it :p
Taylorsville has been giving up some good sized Bass, over the last couple of weeks (according to reports & tournament results). I've always had the best luck, fishing for Bass there ... going on full moon Summer nights, and fishing with tex-rigged craws. Had to put the craw right up on the bank's edge, and drop it off into the water ... as it seemed like the fish were nosed right up to the bank. Bugs were pretty bad from dark until around 11PM ... but, after that, they weren't much of a problem. They'd almost blot out my Black Light, if I stayed still for long ... so I spent that dark to 11P period, running the TM fairly fast and staying on open banks ... throwing cranks ;) ... then, when the bugs backed off, I'd move to the timbered banks and start my "worm fishin" session. I fished on Full Moon nights, solely because I could see the tree branches & stumps better ... so as to not be breaking rods, smackin my noggin on them, or running the TM into them (as much :) ).
.... luck2ya ... whatever you fish for :)

Hey CP,
We were cathcing channels last weekend under floats but the weekend before we caught a couple of blues mixed in with the channels on jugs. I think the blue cats have been in T-ville before the state started stocking them. A few years ago when we would run the occasional trot line it was not uncommon to get a few nice blues, some up to 30 lbs. So yes, there are some large blue cats in T-ville.
Take care,
Greenfish
