XCLENT. Just sub crappie in where it calls for fish or crab meat.

3 cans of Trappey's cut okra creole gumbo
12 fillets of crappie cut into one inch pieces
3 cans of baby shrimp drained
1 can of rotel
1 can of sweet corn drained
Chacere's Creole seasoning to taste
Bring to a boil and serve over cajun dirty rice or add the rice into the gumbo.
Deep fry in peanut oil some plain bagels cut into quarters and sliced and serve with the gumbo
Polar bear has a recipe for crappie gumbo on this forum ( page 1). My wife and I tried it and even being dumb yankees it was awesome. Wife said she wont make it anymore cuz I wouldnt eat sensibly. I said id come to my senses when it was gone.
how do you keep the filets from falling apart a big crappie for me is 14 incher????? pre cook????
Anyone should know you can't even start to make a gumbo, let alone a good gumbo or a great gumbo without starting off by making a roux.
And none of the ones above even mention a roux !

Add your fish just like you would your shrimp the last 10 to 15 minutes of cooking so not to over cook them. when you reheat for later heat only enough for you to eat in a sitting. reheating the whole pot will cause it to breakdown and to many times could cause it to spoil
