Nice fish man............
Very nice fish
That's a beauty.
Chap,
Real nice fish. That fish looks a little "different" than the typical redear. Coloration and body shape is unlike most that I have caught. I wonder if it is a mixed hybrid? Did you catch anymore? Post some more pics.

Nice fish, but i'm with Jr Branham the color of it is little odd.
I think there is a glare off the body of the fish in the photo. Many of what I see locally are very dark like this one, almost blackish green with not a lot of detailing in the vermiculation. Others will have colorations that vary widely. It gives me wide latitude as to how to paint them for my customers. I usually keep photos of many different colorations and ask the client how he wants it to look.
I agree that there are many different colorations, depending on water, feed, time of year, etc. I have caught them almost black and also caught them with alot of yellowish/greenish tinges with molted spots.
Also body shape is almost bluegill-ish. That is almost an 11 inch fish, seems like a redear would be much more elongated. That is why I was wondering about some hybridization going on there.
Cool fish anyway you look at it.:)
