Reelfoot - Anyone, Anyone!!!

Question 1. Has everybody quit fishing Reelfoot or is the fishing so good no one has time to post an update?

Question 2. If you were going to take a 4 year old fishing at Reelfoot, where would you go and what would you fish for?

Most of the locals that post regularly here have slowed down quite a bit. I cant speak for everyone else really, but I know I have. I have a 4 yr old too, and his attention span in the boat is not very good. Right now I would say its best fishing around the trees. 4-5ft water trees for crappie, and 2-3ft trees for bluegill. If I were going out I would still probably try and spider rig for crappie one more time, but I know trees are producing. My son would be all in the trees and I wouldnt be able to fish. This I know isnt very helpful, but its all i got :D

I will be there this weekend with my 10 yr. old son also. This time last year, we fished shallow in the trees, and loaded up with big bull gills.

I wounder iff crappie addict is still Hammering them in the trees on the north end? He'd be the one to ask! As the season goes on the fisher people thin out to me things do get slower. When wheater gets in the 90+ you could just about here a pin drop up the lake!!
Things do get slower when a type of season comes in such as turkey/ deer. And you can tell when school lets out duck season when its over its balls out for my partners!! Hug a tree and catch a brim thats what i would do cast a cork iff you got a youg'un!!
there is lots of open water brim beds use your search tool to find one and have fun . Its not to easy to find an area just take time to watch and see what the rest are doing.

I agree with John. There are open water brim beds to target making ti easier fora small child.

work is nasty as usual, but i got to fish saturday morning for a few hours. hulio and I caught 13 really good crappie between bos and whites in 10 foot. Have gotten some good late afternoon reports there lately.

they are catching cats in the harbor at hickman. judge is gone this week might try that or even a few trotlines.

Crappies and gills are still on the trees.You are going to have to start working hard for the crappies however.Fish slow and be patient with the jigpole.They are holding about 4ft.deep right against the trees.You can also find them in open water.They were suspended about 6 ft.deep last week.That was in water anywhere from 12 to 14 ft. deep in the lower blue basin.The big gills are around the trees and any type cover that is on the lake.The pads in about 1 to 2 ft. water are good right now.Grizzly jigs and wax worms will catch a mess quickly.My fishing is over until fall so good luck to everyone.

Tube jig (Orange/chart), with wax worm, jig right off the bottom, around the trees and in the pads....then hold on.
