My old Minn Kota was getting fussy, so I tore it apart and put a little bearing grease on the rotor shaft. It stopped acting fussy and runs great now. Only thing I was nervous about was that it wouldn't seal right and might get ruined.
Does anybody do that type of thing with theirs on any kind of regular basis. Just curious. I'd be interested in any tips for how to do it with the least risk of destroying the motor.

Oil the bottom shaft bearings on the Motorguide. They tend to get noisy on occasion. Check exposed wiring for chaffs and nicks. Keep power plug (if not hard wired) clean and greased. Keep battery connections clean and greased. Just common knowledge (sense) stuff saves troubles on the water.
