Well the wife and I have made it down to do some Crappie fishing,
We were going to fish Cedar Creek but with the last few post I have read I am now thinking about Herrington or else where.
I have never fished any of these lakes and need all the help I/we can get.
I am staying in Danville and heading out Saturday morning somewhere.
Someone please point us in a good direction....

You're a "little late" in getting to the spawning fish, and that's going to make it a little tough to put you on 'em.Quote:

Herrington is closest, and you may still be able to find some fish trying to spawn. I'd take Fred-in-Ky's advice, if I were going there. My experiences have all been between Kennedy Bridge & Gwinn Island ... and for the most part, I fished around standing timber, brush/log piles, laydowns -- in the main lake pockets, or back in the back ends of creeks.
Wood Creek is an exceptionally clear water lake, and not particularly known for Crappie.
Linville has Crappie, but I've never fished for them, there ... and never heard much about them being fished for, there.
If things (ie - weather) had been a little more on the "normal" side, this year ... I'd probably be sending you to Taylorsville Lake. It's a little easier to pattern, than Herrington, but the fish aren't as big .... it's got bigger fish than Cedar Creek, but just as much fishing pressure - plus boating/skiing pressure.

Fished Cedar today. brought home 25 that were 8.5 to 10". Had to fish thru the small bass that were eating up the minnows. Caught about 60 crappies in all. They are still in th coves and creeks but the bigger ones were 5-8 ft deep. Any shallower and I was catching really small ones.

We started out fishing Cedar Creek on Saturday, We didn't have any acton till about 11:30 when the crappie turned on and we caught about 20 of them (all small) than about 1:00 it shut down for us. We kept fishing till around 3:00 and left.
The fish that we caught were off the bank in the standing timber they were about 3 feet deep in 10 feet of water, All caught on a 1/16oz. gold jig head tipped with a minnow under a float.
The total for the day was 20 Small Crappie and 3 Small Bass.

Fished Cedar Creek this last Tuesday. We fished depths from 3 ft. to 15 ft. and brought home 25 (6.5 - 7 in. fish) Also brought home 15 fair sized bluegill.
First time this year I've tried CC, have not had a whole lot of luck with Green River this spring, so I thought I'd save some gas and give CC a try. Nice restful day overall and got to thin out the stunted crappie at CC somewhat:D
Forgot to say we were catching our fish on wax worms and chartreuse twister tails. :)
