Fishing your jig!

How do most of you fish your jig: and do any of you add a spinner to the jigs that you tie?
1) Tight-line
2) Cast and retrieve
3) Underneath a bobber
4) Troll

I cast and retrieve, fish it underneath a bobber and vertical jig them. All of those methods have produced for me.

I like vertical with a 9' or 10' pole. I use the smallest bobber that will float the jig. There is just something about watching that bobber go down that excites me.

Vertical tightline and try to hold it as still as possible. The waves will impart all the action that you'll need.;)

Crappies have a soft, fleshy mouth, and they are frequently referred to as "paper mouths." Because of the soft membrane near the jaw, anglers should be very careful when setting the hook and handling crappie. Setting the hook with too much force will only tear the mouth and result in lost fish. The best way to catch them is with a 1/32nd or 1/16th jig under a bobber.

Crappies frequently move up from beneath to take a lure. I like to suspend my jig from a small slip bobber. Regardless of whether or not a bobber is used, jigs should always be fished above the crappies. I will sometimes tie two jigs to one line, with one jig a foot or two higher than the other

All the ways that you have mentioned you can catch fish. Slow retrieve will produce more fish than letting it sit there under a bobber. Vertical retrieve out of a boat. I let the jig hit the bottom and retrieve slowly stopping once in awhile and jiggling rod tip up once in awhile. I only use one size jig thats a 1/16 oz. Slow retrive will catch all the fish you need. Have fun.

I use all methods mentioned. During the spawn, I vert. jig, for gills and Redear, I swim a 1/32 oz jig across beds, and also use a float when it all gets really slow and need to slow the presentation way down

I verticle jig most of the time. I like a jig with a heavy leadhead on light line. I use a graphite jig pole to feel the cover I'm fishing to pick it apart. Sometimes when fish are shallow or suspended , I pitch the jig out on a pole length of line. The fish that are agressive will hammer it as the jig arcs back to you.:D

Most of the time vertical jigging, but the way the waters been around here, alittle slow trolling and slip bobber been helpful.
