How do you take care of your Crappie.

Okay guys I Fillet all my Crappie, they have know bones. They are deep fried in a frying pan. Mywife prepairs them bye 1st dipping them into flour, second, dipping them into eggs, third dipped into cracker crumbs. Fried until cooked. Damn are they good. I fix crappie fillets for breakfast. You guys try this. Lightly grease your frying pan. Put a couple fillets in and cook well done. Chop the fillets into little chunks, take two eggs and mix together and pour into frying pan and scamble the fish and eggs to Cook and eat.

Ken, I first started by breading my fillets the way you do, then it was suggested by some other crappie.com members to try Autry House of Seafood breading available at any Wally World. The fillets went from great before the Autry's breading to unbelievable after using it. It makes all the difference in the world.

I fillet and cut out the rib cage, then double dip them in a flour batter seasoned with salt, pepper, and a good dose of Old Bay seasoning. Sometimes I'll grill them but usually not crappie since they're a delicate fish and don't hold up to grilling well.

I fillet them, wash them down in ice water, soak them in milk, put them in a gallon zip lock bag one by one and shake it in some House-Autry Mills seafood breading.....

i fillet my crappie , wash them really well in salty water to get any blood out. then soak them in salty water and lemon juice. rinse again real well. dip in water and batter in zateran's southern crispy, fry up real crispy in a frying pan(i use canola oil so i can use higher heat). fry up some pickles and some hand cut fries and have a feast. mmmmm mmmmm good. i think i'll have some for lunch tomorrow.

When I fillet, I have no rib cage to cut out. There's only meat there, then I remove the skin. I never have tried Grilling Crappie Fillets. I do Salmon, and Steehead.

I've never heard of Zateran's southern Crispy
