Good question.....I'd guess it would be hard to say right now not knowing how much rain we can expect between now and then. You'd think as soon as they are able they will try to pull the water back down to at least summer pool.
If we don't get any more flooding rains between now and then and the weather temps stablize without any bad cold fronts, I'd say you'd probably hit things right.
Good luck, I'm going to try to be there a day or two during that week myself.
The key to Ky Lake level is the Ohio. Watch what they are doing with the Ohio and if it has peaked yet. When it starts to drop, then they will start to drop Ky Lake. Till the Ohio crest, Ky lake will continue to rise.
Cairo, ILL is suppose to crest tomorrow @ 14 feet above flood stage. That also will be headed south.
KY was up today over last night. Course, the wind might have just blown all the water into the east half.
I'll be staying at a resort in Cypress Bay for a week starting Saturday... I have been going every year for the last 5 years. I'll try and send an update in the middle of the week. Each year we had to change the tactics from the year before to catch limits... and this year I am sure will be no exception, this is the first time we fished Summer pool, every year prior it was winter pool. I think it should be an advantage though since we know what the shoreline looks like, I hope. I am usually worried more about tornados than rain, 2 years ago, I took out the tilt on my outboard after hitting a solid-core oak front door of a house that was hit. I have read many reports of floating debris this year already from flooding, and I can't afford any more repairs, should be interesting. Good luck to all, and be safe.
H.T. We were there latst year this very week ,water was in the 60s and we caught fish on the bank ,.this year looks to be very different .Last year it was still at winter pool .We stay at Lakeview ,very nice people.Hope you have good luck.
Thats where I stay, and your right, they are great people... Fishing seems to be good in that section of the lake, but I have never fished the summer pool. I am always up for something new, and ice fishing was good to me this year (have plenty of fillets), so I will be targeting the MONSTERS anyways, and they seem to be a tad deeper then the smaller male crappie, this year. I can't crack 16-1/4" to save my life, first 17" is going on the wall, and then I will start the mission for a 12 lbs. eye out of lake Erie.
Do you mostly fish Cypress or do you hit the other bays as well?We caught a few fish in Panther bay and some bass also
We are going to fish East Harbor ,Erie 1st week of June .I will send you a P.M.
Fshnjon - do you fish in East Harbor when you go to erie, or do you head out to the big lake. I go up there a couple times a year to fish for whatever is biting. If it is too windy on the big lake we fish for crappie/bass in the harbors otherwise, we try around the islands for walleye/bass. What a great fishery they have up there.
At any other point in the year you can find me chasing crappie on KY Lake.
