It's funny that you bring that up. I have two "titelok" rod holders and there isn't anything tight about them. Nearly everytime you hang a fish or move a pole they come loose. Thought it may be operator error but WTC has been with me a couple of times and he can attest to the facts.
The way they hook to the boat is the best part. They are rock solid when poles are in the holders. No back and forth movement or anything but they sure do come loose easy.

driftmaster t250 is the way to go
hound is right! I guess some people have luck with them but man, those things are hard to set and I sure had alot fo trouble with them
HOUND, I have a removeable smith base and 4 pole holder if you want it for your side of the boat. It takes 2 more screws than the tite lok, but it is removeable almost flush to the boat! Only sticks up about 3/4 inch
They shoud be giving them away as bad as they are. Something smells fishy!!!!
No I just use their product and they sponsor both major tournament trails. If you will get rid of the "wing" nuts and put some regular bolts in them. You can set them and adjust them with a wrench, and they stay tight. Or pop the plastic "wing" off and you have a nice hex head bolt right there you can use. We've tried all the holders out there, and had the best luck out of these. The set in my boat is five years old, and have seen plenty of use. Someone is always asking what kind or which ones to buy on here. They have a sale going on if your in the market. I like them!
Well, I'll try and do some tinkering with mine and try the above suggestions. I'm just of the mind that if you sell a product and the name is "titelok" the they should be at least that...you know tight. I shouldn't be having to do this and do that to get em' tight, probably just me though.
Thanks for the advice 22F.

I love my black widows. Do they have a piece that you can put on them where it will hold a rod vertical while I'm re-tying lures?
Hound, if you will take a dremel or even a hack saw and cut the plastic on the wing bolt, it will come off and be a stainless hex head. A 1/4" allen wrench will fit it. I taped one to the handle of my pliers. Set the holder and tighten it down. My right side holder has been in my boat for three years, and I haven't touched it. They actually manufacture clamps for the camper shell industry, I'm guessing that is where the tite part came in. I know where your coming from, but if you buy a reel with line on it, the first thing you do is strip it off and put whatever type of line you use on it. Kind of the same thing here, nothing is ever as good as, or as bad as it seems. Hope it works for you!
