Dubbed Bodies make for a whole new type jig for me

I have been asking around to the guys that tie flies about dubbing and they say I have to use more tools and they don't know if they will hold up as well as my chenille jigs, but using a loop will make them much improved as for as durability.

Now for the cool part, there is so much in the way of more materials t use and some of it is really great looking. Soon I will try some of these new jigs to see how well they work. I really think they are going to be awesome though. The pics don't really do this material justice.

Looks good !!! Using different materials will keep you ahead of the crowd for sure. People are always looking for something different. Materials for making jigs are only limited to the imagination and this proves it. :D

Skip I did some with it. And it holds up. but not near as good as the chenille does.

Pete did you use a dubbing loop or just dub it single thread? I am curious about that and the fly tying guys tell me if it's dubbed with a dubbing loop it will hold up much better. I have not been able to try it out yet.

Thought about that, but it will smash it down more huh? I have started using the loop which should help a lot.

Skip I just wrapped it on and then wrap again with thread. And drop of glue.
I am sure if we did the way the guys do on flies it may hold up better.

PS I Have a buddy in Fl that mailed me so to try. I will ask him the best way to get it to last.

You could wire rib it then pick it out a little with a bodkin.

That may be the best way. I even have a little dubbing brush I made from a wooden match and some Velcro that I can use.

ya wire then dubbing brush.
alternate from using dubbing loop would beuse ice dub and normal dubbing technique..then bring your wire rib up...then use dubbing brush to "bush" it up.

I have several jigs tied this way and they have even held up to a few walleye
