New to crappie fishing and my buddie called to ask me to go crappie fishing this year instead of going to canada. The guys we are going with have been to KY lake/blood river for the past 8 years and are rubbing it in already how they will slauter us fishing. We will be there from April 5th to the 12th. I would appreciate any help you guy's can give me, I don't know what jigs to use live bait ect. Any tips what kind of jigs and rigs. Thanks
It'll be a riot no matter what, eagle! Troll through this site, especially Kentucky/Tenn. for some REALLY good info. from some good people. Sixfin, Klight1122, Caseydrew, etc. all have lots of experience on the lake. Also check out the links to some good published techiniques. Most of all have a blast when you get down there. I'll be fishing Barkley from the 4th-12th unless the water is still too muddy, then we will be on Kentucky Lake. Might see ya there. :)

For Crappie I like to use Pink Jigs or a combination with pink in it. Usually 1/16oz is good depending on your line dia. I use 4 lb on most of my spinning rigs.
I also slip bobber - I found that if you put heavy line on(6 to 8 lb)and then a 4 lb mono leader about 4 ft. when you snag the lighter line will break and you still have your slip bobber and knot. This saves allot of setups. I use those barrel connectors to attach the leader. Attach a split shot just heavy enough so the bobber floats.
Your Canada Walleye experience should help, but you need to downsize.

Thanks guy's for the welcomes and advice, the site has been great and very helpful so far will keep reading. From everything I've read I can't wait and am glad we are doing this trip this year. Maybe it will be a every year thing. Will post pics when I get back.
