i coming down to forrest city area in april the 12th.im looking for a lake to catch big bluegills and crappie.i fished horseshoe ,bear creek ,and hogue and catch some big fish ,:confused:but a lot of little ones.does anyone know a lake around this area to catch big bluegills or crappie.if so how do you fish for them.depth,color of jigs,or live bait.
April 12 should be prime time for big gills at Bear Creek and Storm Creek, If the river gets out of Burnt Cane and it clears up it should be great for the crappie and bream.
lakes in dagmar could be right if the water levels get right/ I have never caught any decent sized bream in burnt cane and I have fished it for a few years pretty tegularly. Old town can be good.
I would go to the Mississippi board and ask about Tunica Cutoff. That would be about a 80 mile oneway trip for you but, it is worth the drive if you want some big Mississippi River gills. I personally have never fished for gillls there but have seen a million of them and at that time the gills were about as big as one could get his hands on and around. Or also you can catch some good ones at Reelfoot on your way through or on your way home.
Bear Creek gets my vote for the big gills.
