Any Old Hickory Advice?

Hey guys, I'm brand new to the forum. I've been reading now for a few months and decided to jump in. I moved to Nashville a couple of years ago and recently inherited a small aluminum boat. I've fished some on Old Hickory and Priest, but mostly on Old Hickory.

I love Crappie fishing and went a couple of times last year, but missed most of the good fishing. I fished in Cedar Creek for the most part since it's very close to where I live (and because I didn't know where else to go..lol). Caught a few good fish off of the docks near deeper creek channel water. From what I've gathered from reading the forum here it seems like Spence Creek is a good place to fish also.

I don't have a very elaborate rig. Just mainly drift fishing around treetops, channel drop offs and fishin' the docks. No spider rigging or trolling (Yet. :))

I'm originally from Alabama and the Crappie season there runs a little ahead of Tennessee's waters. I'm just looking for some advice on where to fish on Old Hickory this next Monday 3/17. Is any particular creek a better starting point than another, and where to look for the fish with water temps. where they are? Should I be fishing docks or still looking for the fish in deeper water? Any advice you gentleman could render would be greatly appreciated and I will give a full report Monday night. Thanks in advance!

If I had one day to fish Old Hickory in the area that you normally fish, I'd start off on the deeper docks in Station Camp creek. As the water warmed up, I'd move all the way to the back of the creek and either bobber fish in 3-4 ft of water, or throw a road runner w/ a curly tail jig. If the wind is up, you can position your rig in between some boat houses and still catch fish there....good luck w/ keeping those pesky green carp off your hook!:D:D

Thanks for the pointer Thrill. I'm pumped to have a new spot to try out. I guess I better get my license renewed :) I'm hoping the wind isn't to crazy on Monday. I'll post the results of the trip on Monday night or Tuesday.

Two weeks ago one group who was guided threw white hair jigs with gold spinners, a special rig designed by their guide with a slighty larger spinner comparitively to small jig size. They had over 30 nice crappie from the pictures I saw at the Bass Pro Incentive days.

ThrillSeeker, Due to limited time to fish on Monday and the fact that the wind is supposed to be pretty strong later in the day, I'm planning on just putting in at Cedar Creek Marina and fishing the docks in deeper water.

I can only fish 'till Noon and it only takes me 10 minutes to be in the water at Cedar. However, I will definitely be making a trip in the next week or so to Station Camp Creek.

They were biting well today. I may head out tomorrow morning and get back in the creeks. Hopefully they'll be biting better there.
