Best average depth to sink structure

I've been sinking tops in Cedar Creek Lake in Alabama for a few years now. I do the best in tops that are in about 15' of water there. We have just started sinking tops in Bay Springs Lake in Mississippi this year. The water is deeper and clear there. We have been sinking the tops a little deeper on Bay Springs, in 16' - 25' of water. I hope that is a good depth for that lake. My question is, what are some depths that produce fish for most of the year and how does that vary on different lakes? Thanks in advance.

I put out christmas tree in 16' - 26' deep.... the crappie hold above the top or if the shad are holding above the top then the crappie will be above the shad.... I normally fish them post spawn through fall pattern....
We catch our biggest crappie in the fall pattern....Sept - Dec....

Rathbun lake is best at 7-15' I use hedge tops they hold fish real quick and last forever.

That is relative to the average lake depth, water color ,and season. Nimrod is a shallow lake and average depth for our brush/condos is 8'. But we keep a few shallow as 3' in low pool to as deep as 18' in the river channel. I've seen times where you needed certain depths to catch slabs. Saw it where one June day that if you fished cover 5' or less it was hot! Talked to the other locals fishing same areas with cover 6 to 8' depths with no luck. They did'nt have anything set that shallow. At times on a shallow lake a couple of feet of water can make the difference.;)

We put ours out in different depths for different times of the year(some places crappie can be caught year around).Our Spring(pre-spawn and spawn) are anywhere from 1 feet to 15 foot.Our summer brush(post-spawn) is anywhere from 14-30 feet.Our fall and winter brush may be anywhere from 5-30 feet.We do have some brush that holds fish year around and that brush seems to be in 14-19 foot range.

8' to 14' has been good to me in the spring on KY lake.

I've got it out from 13' down to 33'. It hasn't been out very long, only about 4-5 weeks. I'll do a study on depth this fishing cycle and have a report.

Thanks everyone for the input. We have been putting out tops on Cedar Lake for a few years now. We have 100+ tops out all together in depths from about 7 - 25 feet. We catch 90% of the fish in tops between 12 - 16 feet deep most of the year (except for when they are shallow during the spring). We have put about 20 tops on a different lake that is deeper and the water is clear compared to Cedar. We put them out from 15 - 30 feet. I am planning to try some of them for the first time tomorrow.
