Recessed trolling motor foot pedal station.

I have a 2002 Tracker Pro Team 175 Bass Boat. I would like to install a recessed trolling motor foot control station for my Motor Guide trolling motor. Does anyone know what kind of support system is under the front deck of this particular boat? I feel comfortable cutting through the deck itself but I don't want to cut through a support stringer. I am aslo concerned how the wiring to the front of the boat is positioned. If you know anything about these boats I would really appreciate your imput. Cabela's sells this item online. They measure 12"x91/2" so we are not talking about a great big hole. This would sure make running a trollig motor for long periods of time a lot easier.
