Clouser Minnows...
Haven't seen much about the good ol' Clouser lately. How do these look?

They're not as thick as they look, since more hair gives them less action. And the orange one isn't split that much, it's just laying on top of the vice. I still can't get a green chartreuse to show up good.

They look very good. Fish wil like them. You might want to look at the third part of the Bob Clouser videos and epoxy the head area for stability and looks.

They work! Tie a few and try them. Ship is right, check out the vid on epoxy.

Thanks Ship. Unfortunately I'm on dial up so I can't really watch videos.
WhitePerchJerker, I have tried them, those are mine, lol. Just was wondering what other people thought of them.

Quote "You can't tie these things too sparse. The ones I tie for myself are sparser than those I sell in the shop. They just won't buy one that's tied real sparse. But they'll come back in the shop after a day on the river and say, 'caught so many bass on that fly that they chewed most of the hair off, but they kept right on eating it.' And they still don't get the connection that sparse flies catch fish." - Bob Clouser -

I was looking at buying the Clouser's Flies book. Do you have it? How good is it?
-
That bottom one will work, caught a bunch pre spawn on one near that color, saw them slurping like trout. There stomachs were full of a green goo, some kinda bugs.
-
Hmm that's neat. Any idea what kind of bugs they were?

try using craft fur for your clousers..i have more hits in warm water with craft fur clousers (and darters) than bucktail. plus i like the movement in the water as well as weight when im flyfishing.
craft fur with beadeye chain instead of barbell eyes. they still sink good and i can control depth better with the chain rather than barbell.

Great looking clousers! Work great for anything that eats minnows. Gonna be using one for smallies this year.
