I just purchased a new boat which has a sonar on the console, with a transom mounted transducer, and a sonar on the bow, with a trolling motor mounted transducer. A friend told me if I have them both running it may cause them to interfere with each other. Any truth to that? New to the site, thanks for the help.
Some people say no.....they are mistaken.
Most say they experience a reading that is shallower than actual because of the interference.
I have the opposite symptom. When I have both graphs on my front graph reads as deep as 600' when I'm in 10'. Turn one off or if you don't want to do that you can also try freezing the chart.
I run HB's and dont have problem.
Any two operating on the same freq will interfere with each other at some point. It all depends on how deep your are and how far apart they are, or in other words if the cones over lap. If your running Lowrance all you have to do it freeze the chart display on the console one and that suspend it pings till you start the chart again.

I run a 3D sonar a side view and the transducers are about 4ins. apart and the work good in 30 to 40 foot a water but deeper than that I get specks on the side view...
Highpower unit can blast the signal of a lower power unit of different a frequency.
After all, it is sound and any speaker (transceiver) can be swamped.
Most units have a fixed transmit gain.
I have a PCFF80 and it has an adjustable power transmit. I can (and do) set it close to my Lowrance and they work fine when both set at 200khz.
I wish I could set my HB xmit gain. I am wishing again.
For a couple of g's I oughta be able to watch the Batman channel on it.
I have 2 Lowrance units. 1 on the console and one on the bow. I can say that the X25 on the console definitely interferes with the X51 up front. It doesn't give false readings, but it causes specks or snow all over the screen. The X51 is a higher end unit that shows better detail. I constantly forget to turn off the console unit when I move up front to fish. I remember as soon as I see the screen on the bow unit. I have not noticed the higher end unit causing much interference with the lower dollar unit, but it doesn't show great detail to start with.
My 2 HB's do in water 20 ft or deeper...

I've got two identical HB Matrix 25s on my boat. I'm starting to think I have seen problems in muddy water especially, the front one reading a fixed 2' depth, at one particular lake. never even considered interference as being a possibility. Now I know to check.
