Humminbird Interlink
I was reseaching the interlink option as a possible add on to my boat. A few questions came to mind. First, I have a 797 sideimage unit at the console and looking to pair it with a unit for the trolling motor. What unit would you recommend as a good twin to the 797? Second, how easy is this to set up with an interlink? Third, where do you place/mount the interlink? Im new to interlink...but i can see the benefits big time. Problem is getting from point A (how to go about it) to point B (on the water using it).

I would recomend buying a 997 for the console and moving the 797 to the bow. But its your money. so buy what you are comfortable with. SI on the trolling motor has some advantages!
Interlink is plug and play. Mount it where all the cables will reach it and be out of the way! I put mine under the console. It comes with a 20 ft and a 10 ft cable so if you boat is 20 footer or less you will have no problems. If its longer you can buy a 10 foot extension!
It nice to see all your waypoints weather you are at the bow or console. Or you can set it to not share with the other unit if that is your desire! It will not share maps so you will/may need another map card or the NVB which ever fits your plan!

Ok...good suggestion but really can not afford a 997. I was thinking of models in the 700 series that I could put on the bow but I dont have first hand experience with these models so input is appreciated. Also, I have the Navionics package for the 797....do you need the same map card 2nd unit if your going to interlink?

Only if you want a map card at the bow and console at the same time. If you have the card,That you plug in ,you can move it to the front unit, when needed.
If you have NVB there is no way to move it to the front and Interlink won't share it! So then if you want a map up front you would need the map sd card or buy the NVB model. Thats the one with all the maps built in. They are 2006 maps!
