I am looking for a new sonar unit and need advice. Is the only benefit to color the fact that you can see it better in the bright sun? Comparing the Lowrance products: Is there an advantage to 480 x 480 pixels over 320 x 320 pixels for crappie fishing? Also, is there any advantage to 4000 watts in the X135 over the 2400 watts in the X125? Thanks.
Pixel count makes a big difference in picking out fish from cover. I used to think color was a gimmick until I had a chance to see one in operation. Color provides more information and makes it easier to tell what you are seeing. This is because echos of different strengths show up as different colors.Quote:

Man the color is sure easier on my old eyes. I don't have to squint to see it in the daylight.

I have a eagle 320 that is very good and will not break the bank account. It has the same 20 degree sonar with 1500 watts of power. it will track 1/32 curly tail jigs past 30'.
