i fished lake greeson this weekend and for anyone that fishes it on a regular basis i was wondering about the normal pool level. it seem low to me is this normal. new member here i have been reading this board for some time now and thought i would post some

Yep it is a little low for this time of the year and the crappie bit is a little slow to.

Actually, it has been my experience that 542 is about average for the lake. You have to remember that Greeson's primary purpose is flood control followed by hydoelectric generation. 548msl is full generating pool. I've seen it as low as the 530's by the end of long, hot summer and last January we got a huge rain and it crested at 556. They hold the lake a little low to catch all the spring rains. The last few years they have done a great job holding the lake 542 or better for the spawn.

Greeson is on the rise after all the rain we had last night. All the creeks I crossed this afernoon were still bank full and muddy. I expect it to come up a foot or two. It will be interesting to see if they let it stay up or if they drop it back down when they can start letting water out again. After last January's flood they are probably reluctant to let it get too close to full pool until April when the threat of heavy rainfall is less.
