MinnKota V2 AP/US2
I got one finally!:D Got to looking at mounting it and think I got a problem? I have a 1995 model 1542 Fisher and the front deck is about 1"-1.5" lower than the front rub rail. I have noticed most of these motor have been mounted hanging over the front edge a couple inches. The bracket that is on this boat fits a Motor Guide scissor lift style now and fits straight down along the left side of the front deck. I don't think the bracket is wide enough to mount the base for the MinnKota.
Could a platform be built out of treated wood and be strong enough? I would rather have the motor deploy off the point of the bow instead of off the left side.
Is there a pre-fab bracket for these motors to adapt this kind of deck? I looked on MinnKota's website and found brackets that allow you to remove the trolling motor, but nothing that looked like it would offset the drop on the deck.
Machine shop to build a mounting bracket?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
I will try to post a pic later to show what I mean.

My Tracker had Motorguide on it. I made a plate to convert and extend the TM.
I drilled holes in the plate and used the existing Motorguide holes. I then drilled and tapped holes for the Minn Kota. Pretty easy. That is a 3/8 inch stainless plate from the scrap yard.

could a stack of washers be used for the back two mounting bolts and the third front bolt be run down through the front rub rail and still be stable enough? measured it again and need 1.75" from top of carpet to top of rub rail. would it be better to buy the aluminum bracket and then use spacers/washers to make up the difference? gotta get a pic on here so you can get a better idea. checked in at the area minnkota folks about installing since they would be the ones fixing anything and wouldn't hurt my warranty but they wanted $85.00 an hour and then what ever the machine shop wanted to build a bracket. Thanks.

go to auto junk yard or mechanics shop and get the aluminum alternator spacer off of older general motors cars and trucks. they make great spacers for what you are doing. measure and cut to desired length allowing room for flat washer. you are done.

bought the composite removable locking bracket for the PD. The puck/insert was small enough to bolt onto my old bracket and still extend the motor just far enough out to clear the bow. Just won't have the T/M off the peak of the bow like I want till I get a bracket built for it. Other T/M ran off left side like this one will without any problems with pull. I like this mount also since I may run in saltwater once in a while and can just pull off the motor and put it back on after I get back and wash down the boat. Won't need it fishing the flats anyway. Thanks for the tips guys.
