Just starting out
I'm going to start crappie fishin' this spring and had a few questions:
1. When do I start fishing?
2. What is the best are to try and catch crappie?
3. What kind of bait?
I would appreciate all the help I can get. I've been bass fishing the last few years and I want to widen my horizon. Thanks!!

Answer to #1: Crappie fishing usualy starts getting realy good around the middle of March, of coarse any day can be good if you find them active!
#2 Look for laydowns, docks, standing timber, brush piles, channel bends and small pockets or coves off of a creek channel. Start looking shallow on warm sunny days 2' to 8' and deeper on darker days 10' and deeper.
#3 Black and chartreuse, chartreuse, blue and white, red and chartreuse, and yellow and white are all good colors for semi stained to muddy water. 2" Curl tail grubs are my favorite but 1.5" tube jigs are good as well.
Minnows under a cork will do the job as well!
Good luck!
