Wonder why they don't make a side image D.F. without the GPS? or map.
Would (or should ) be cheaper & all of us don't need the GPS. Just a thought too much time on my hands :D

You can kinda get it without those features, but my question would be how you gonna find what you find?Quote:

Because when you see it on the SI you can stop the picture, move the cursor over the top of it and mark it with a waypoint. Otherwise you have to go trolling around aimlessly with your regular sonar to find it. That thing shoots 240ft. off each side of the boat. That's alot of ground to be covering and time wasted if you can only fish on the weekends.

Crappiehound is right, SI is almost useless if you cannot use the GPS with it! The 797 is very reasonable compared to other units without SI! You really have to see one in action on the water to really understand and respect their ability!
You don't haveta buy the gps receiver or the navionics maps. But it would be like duck hunting with a bb gun.Quote:

Didn't mean to confuze ya. I got a 797. It is slick as gum scum. I sure like using it or playing with it (whichever comes first).
What I want to know is............with all that looking when you got time for any fishing?!? :D :) :D
