Watch those ramps!
Hi guys: Just wanted to remind folks who fish up here in north Arkansas that really cold weather also brings the danger of frozen ramps. Once your rig starts to slide, without a 4 x 4, you can litterally launch your boat, trailer and truck. That happened a couple of days ago in MO. Seems the guy was backing down a frozen ramp and the rig got away from him. One guy excaped and lived, one did not. I don't know all the particulars, but it would seem that a truck could get traction after the rear wheels went in the water, but maybe panic was the cause, who knows. Anyhow, be careful out there and tight lines.

I always carry a sack of Ice melt in the tool box come's in handy onec or twice a year, eaven had to use it to help others get out.. put a sack in the truck better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it..

Great idea, thanks. I always use cat litter, but when wet, it will freeze too. But its great to get out of snow.

I don't seem to ever have that problem, since I almost never see another boat on the kinda days where the water from the trailer freezes on the ramp...:D Seems I'm the only one dumb enough to be out there...but there's no place I'd rather be on a day like that...
