I see all the jig pictures on here and they are all clear and focused. When I try to get pics, mine are all blurry or washed out from the flash. What is the trick to getting good pics that are worth posting? Or is my camera just not cut out for it?

Try putting them on a non-glossy surface ( cloth ) then take your camera and get back away from your jigs and use the zoom feature to make them look bigger and it always helps to put something in the photo so you can compare size like a quarter. try this and see if it helps
First I don't use a flash at all. Next need a good digital camera with a macro setting. That is about it.

You need to put you camera in macro mode/flower icon, this will allow you to focus closer. At this point the flash will wash out your pic so you should try to take them during the day with good light or turn your flash off and use a different light source.
I'm so glad you asked this question I set my camera to macro and the pics look alot better now if I can just get my jigs to look good lol

For me even in macro i cant get really close, i have to back off and use the zoom just a tad. Thankfully you waste nothing with a digital so you can play around till you start getting better pics.
I put a piece of white printer paper behind my jig still on the vise. I have used the flash with this and it comes out great still. If your using auto focus look in the LCD screen and see if the jig is blurry or not. It will also have green brackets around it. (on my camera it does).
sometimes i shake or flintch, so its never out of the question if you feel you need a tripod and if you go to that extreme you can usually put a delay on your shutter so it will take the picture a few seconds after you press the button. this gives you time to let go and have no jitter at all in the camera. Id love to get a remote release for my camera but they are not made as far as i know.
so lets see some pics??? show us what you can do!http://onfinite.com/libraries/1102862/afd.jpg
