Wateree 12-29
ill keep this short and brief....fished with E on wateree from sun up to sun down on his toon. 1 4lb striper, a white bass, and about 10 or so blues/channels no bigger than 6 lbs. No bird activity all day and evening. water temp 53. all other boats we talked to had similar results.
OT ill shoot a pic on this thread sometime tomorrow what an actual "white bass" looks like as he asked by phone....maby rango still has that pic with both a white bass and perch side by side to show.
seemed like there was a crappie.com reunion/social at the honey hole with all the boats and thumping going on. any one got any better results?
as always E had a blast and next time ya gotta drag urself to the dead sea....Norman.

crappie snapper and myself were up on the other end around the mouth of wateree creek crappie fishing for a while,we boated 17 nice ones, had 4 that were pushing 2lbs hard, also had half a dozen perch or so{future catfish bait},the bite had slowed somewhat from the last few days with everyone we talked to saying it was slower today, was bit windy at times but managable

tough break guys. maybe next time. i posted this photo somewhere on the board awhile back. the white bass is in the center with a white perch above and below it.

you would have to DNA them to tell the difference. Which one blows his gill up when you grab him?
-
all of them, if they didn,t taste so good i wouldn't mess with either:eek:

the picture dont really do em justice. the metal plate on the left is 7 inches across and knowing that you can estimate the length of the WB. a WP that big would probably be a record fish. the white bass was caught by pete on a outing down wateree way about 3-4 year ago. this is the only white bass ive seen on wateree in quiet a few years. in the spring time we practically lived at cedar creek when the WB was running. there would be big crowds down there and everyone looked forward to the run when the dog woods was blooming. now i dont hear nothing about it. i never cared for the taste of white bass which to me had a strong taste. white perch, now thats a different story. Its been a long time since ive caught any wb but i dont recall em flaring their gills like the wp does.

Thanks for going Pete. Hate the bite didn't cooperate but thems the grits as they say. All this rain tells me that it's almost time to start fishing wylie again real soon. The lake seemed to have come up a few inches the other day , after today maybe a few more. It's night stalking time.

no doubt.....just an FYI the streams by my house are over their banks and flowing at a good clip....all that pours into the wylie watershed.....wylie should be up at least a foot after this storm!!
