Rainy day crappie jigs

Here are some jigs I tied during the all day rain we had on Saturday.

Good way to spend the day,looks like you will be ready when the weather clears.

Slabologist: those are some good looking jigs! Couple questions if you don't mind. Do they have both Krystal Flash and Flashabou? Are they bucktail?

I've never really given hair/feather jigs their due. I enjoy tying them but always seem to turn to plastic when actually fishing. Practically all of my fishing is vertical jigging on the docks, except of course during the Spring. When vertical jigging, would one fish a hair jig the same way they would a plastic? Or slower and with less movement?

Yes they are bucktail with crystal flash and a couple of strands of flashabou

the black and chartruse jigs at the top and the three pink and white have glow flash in them. I use thes jigs vertical jigging and under a cork or even trolling. The bucktail when held still under water has a alive movement to it.

NEVER under estimate hair jigs. They can be a little hard to work with, just need to find some good soft hair. They can be fished the same as plastic, it really depends on the conditions.

Good lookin jigs there, Slab. Is that 1/8 oz. heads? What size hook?

Those are 3/32 oz heads with #2 Matzuo hooks

They will work. Looks good.

Great looking jigs, i'll used store bought tyed jigs and have caught many fish on them. So i started to tie my owen.

Do you like the Matzuo sickle hooks, have you had any problems with them breaking or bending? 3/32 is a great jig.
