Alright, i am giving in. Going to purchase a Humminbird 797C si. Side imaging is here to stay and i cant stay away any longer. For you guys that have the side imaging sonars, where do you mount them? On the console or on the bow. I currently have a 585c at the console and another one at the bow. I just dont know if it is better to use this unit from the bow or console. ANy suggestions would be appreciated.

You will find that you are going to be spending alot of time pushing buttons when you are searching/detailing/zooming images etc... You will also quickly realize that you want to look at "alot" of water.. It's much more comfortable on the console.. Just my .02 worth.

Console. If you have not purchased it yet try J and H products. They had the best price when I bought mine.

But what if you spend 85% of the time on the trolling motor? Would you still think putting it on the console is best? I find more spots from there, being that i'm up there more.

I have mine on the console, just use it as a searching and mapping tool. when I find something I want to fish I mark it on the gps then go to the trolling motor and fish it. You will map more having it on the console as you can scan while doing 2-7mph. pull in a cove and scan the whole thing in the time it takes you to get to the back of it then check the spots you found on your way out.
