Sorry for the delay, it's been pretty busy around here.
Due to lots of other plans, we must schedule the get-together for the weekend of Nov 10-11th. I know that this coincides with opening weekend for modern gun, but it's all we could coordinate. This is short notice, so I'm sorry if you won't be able to make it. There's still plenty of time left for good fishing later on.
So here's the deal, this is a small relaxed get-together on short notice. It will not be a complex event such as the crappie camps hosted by the honorable Darryl and Jerry. We are thinking of fishing Sat, having a fish fry Sat evening, and fishing Sun morning. Other than sitting around a campfire (hoping that it's still cold enough), it's just gonna be fishing, eating, and socializing. Jerry (LA Stumpjumper) said that he will take his camper down Friday and stay through the weekend. I will probably be able to make it down there Friday afternoon for some fishing. I plan to fish all day Saturday and just the morning for Sunday. I will do my best to put folks on fish. Also, anyone who wants to join me in my boat is more than welcome. You can come whatever part of the weekend is best for you.
As far as a place to stay...the campground is very nice with excellent campsites. There's also a Motel8 in Star City. It shouldn't be too cold for a tent. Another option is the RV Rental...it costs $65/night and you must rent it for both Sat and Sun...the upside is that it will sleep up to 8 people. If some folks want to rent the RV, then somebody can coordinate the reservations. If you want a campsite, it may be best to also go ahead and reserve it. http://arkansasstateparks.com/canecreek/ Click on Book Online.
Food...the only eating event will be the fish fry Sat night. Jerry and I will take care of cooking the fish, taters, and condiments. If a couple of folks will cover side items, plates/plastic silverware, napkins, drinks, etc., that would be great.
So that's about all I can think of right now. If there's anything I missed, let me know. I know it's short notice, and I know it's bad timing with the deer season, but hopefully everyone will find sometime to make it down.
