i went to taylorsville today to try my luck at some crappie fishing. i don't usually do much after spring but thought i'd give it a try. i didn't have much luck at all. used minnows and roadrunners around laydowns and standing timber with lots of limbs sticking out. after trying about 5-6 hours give it up even tried a little bass fishing with no luck there either.i need to learn more about what to look for with more experience though summer months.
this is really not a great time for Crappie fishing at T-ville. The water is still pretty warm, it's already below Winter Pool, and there's been no incoming water to speak of. Cooler temps, and a cool rain or two, should help get things back to a more normal state of affairs, for this time of year.Quote:

Night fishing, right now, may be a better option. Otherwise, fishing from 12-18ft deep ... around the ends of blowdowns, around deep submerged brush piles, or standing trees in 20+ ft of water ... fishing slow, and staying on the spot for a more extended period of time than normal ... should be the ticket for daytime, until cooler water temps bring the fish a little shallower.

I also went this weekend (Friday) and it was tough.
I only got 4 keepers, and several little ones.
The water is still to warm, maybe even warmer than the week before.
The ones I got were in 50' of water next to the trees on the channel edge.
I used minnows and jigs.
Everything is running late this year due to the heat.
It's still like summer fishing right now. :cool:
