What are folks using for their Live Scope rod(s)?
Sometimes a BnM BGJP163; sometimes a Crappie Thunder 14' rod. I'm a little newer to just livescoping and an exclusive fishing method, so my spider rigging rods are somewhat dual purpose at the moment.
I'm currently using a 12' BnM Blue Diamond rod for Flippin' double jig rigs w/LS. But, if I were Snipin' with a single jig & heavy weight, I'd likely move up to a 14-16ft rod with a heavier action blank.
*Note: "Snipin", to me, is chasing down a single fish out in open water .... "Flippin", to me, is 'casting' (overhand or underhand) a single or double jig rig to a piece of cover with a school of fish or just a stationary school of fish relating to no observable cover or a bottom contour change.
The longest pole I have is the original BGJP12. Getting started with the live scope this year on the Gifted To Me Pontoon, so this may change...
I have fished the BnM Blue Diamond and Black Diamond, ACC Crappie Stix, while they are good rods i really loved the 13.5 Warpig by HH Rods and Reels. I recently started using a Dobyn's 14 and 16' that i like equally they have great backbone and can boat flip 2 pound fish without worrying. Its all preference how stiff or flimsy you like your rod they are all equally as sensitive to the thump from my experience.
As far as spotlocking around brush piles i like to do so at 15 foot away if the fish aren't to spooky to let me & make short pitches to them with a 10ft. acc crappie stix . I also like to cast longer distances to open water fish with a 7 footer. I have a 16 footer that i'm going to try chasing open water fish with this year.
