Weekly Meetup - The last Cast :)
Full moon , warmer water and air temperatures, and light winds .
Perfect conditions, right ? Not so fast , fish brain :)
We met up at noon and one my first cast ,I caught a medium size crappie.
I thought , game on !
An hour later , the count was up to three , the one crappie , a fun size spotted bass , and a green sunfish.
Onward to the next location, which didn’t have a boat ramp . It was a park on a point that reaches out close to the main River channel.
I caught another fun size UL bass and another green sunfish and lost five jigs in underwater rocky point .
On to the next park which has two sets of double ramps and twin parking lots .
At The first ramp area , I went fishless .
Meanwhile my buddy has caught five fish to tie my five .
Just before leaving time , I suggested we try the other ramp for five minutes . One rod , no stools . Just a few casts to see if anything is home .
On about his second or third cast my buddy caught a tiny five inch bass to pull ahead .
A few more casts and he said two more casts and it’s time to go .
He was throwing a roostertail and completed his two cast before I finished twitching my first and said time to go !
I told him I had one more cast , and we could leave after I worked my last cast in .
About halfway in , working my micro streamer jig parallel to the boat ramp edge , my jig stopped. I thought I had hung up and was going to lose another jig on my last cast .
But then my Majorcraft Ajing do rod bent over and the drag on my Shimano Soare bb500spg sang out .
Took me about five minutes to work the biggest fish of the day , a spotted bass , up on the boat ramp .
A walk off home run . :) .
My buddy said, you just had to make one more cast didn’t you ? I said it was my last cast before I made the cast .
Fishing was tough , but fun was had by all .
I enjoyed fishing the 5’8” MC Ajing Do rod today with the little Soare reel and some Daiwa J braid .
The other productive rod I used was my 5’ St Croix Avid UL with a Carbon X II 1000 reel and J braid .
