Help with an idea
If you've seen my ties you already know I come up with odd and weird ideas. Well I need someone with a certain mold to make me some of these odd things.
Attachment 514604
If anyone has these molds, I need some hot glue injected into them with a hook wire in it. The idea is to use the shape as a base build up for tying jigs. The right one would give a taper to the jig head for tying with larva lace and thread for shrimp and buggy patterns. The left one would make nice base for smaller ones but allow for a fuller profile

Basically doing this tie without having to use a bunch of material to set up the tapers.
Anyone have those 2 molds and willing to give it a shot?
I don't want to buy 2 molds before testing if the idea just doesn't work out.

That sounds like a good idea! I'm interested is seeing the results.

Those are tube jigs . Check your local Walmart . They used to sell them .
-
Need the molds injected with hot glue. I don't need the jig heads in lead. Lots of members to buy those from.

I think it would be easy to create a similar shape with thick UV resin. You would also have more control over the shape.

Resin makes sense….i like the concept

Need to be able to slide the shape over the hook for a base for tying jigs and flies.
-
No need to slide it over the hook. It's a gel that you apply and shape then cure into solid form using a UV light.

Here's a video that shows the process of building up a body. If you don't want it clear, just color the surface with a marker.

That works for some applications and for those who have time to do it. This idea is to be able to make hundreds a day that people can use to bulk up their jigs for body shapes and size in seconds. Want a bulkier minnow body, slide on a taper and tie one up. Want a bulkier cricket jig, slide on a straight one and tie away. Want a tepered shrimp pattern with larva lace, easy to do. No more wrapping whatever to build a body shape.
Looks like I may just have to buy the molds and see if I can sell some. I thought someone might give this a try.
