2/6/2026 Less Water Means Less Places To Hide. Go Deep !!
Having not fished for almost 2 weeks due to freezing cold and windy conditions I was ready to go and see... The water here in South East Louisiana is at record lows due to very strong north winds blowing out the water to the Gulf of America. Almost 3 feet lower than normal. Many of my favorite spots had the trees and stumps out the water. Found a few and ended up keeping 26 big thick black sacalait. It was slow at first and they were not stacked together. but it was GREAT being out on the water again. Water temp was 45 F which is 20 degrees less than the 65F 2 weeks ago.
Lesson today. They can't walk out so keep looking till you find out where they are hiding. Less water makes it less places to hide but one must be careful because trails usually traveled at high speeds had stumps and trees sticking out the water.
They liked Bobby G Thread Fin Shad today.
Bon Temps!!
