CONFUSED, white base coat?

Good morning,
I have been using plain white base coat, for some colors. Should I be using pearl white instead?

Not sure it would matter unless the top coat is a transparent color.

Pearl white paint paint contains mica to create shimmer. I use it on crankbaits with opaque white as the base. I also make my own Pearl colors by adding mica. Prolly not the answer you are looking for…
