Thinking about going from a 18’ glass bass boat to a 16’ deep v or maybe a rt178. Only thing I am concerned about with the deep v is the stability when sitting still and fishing off the front deck. Just wandered if anybody has a similar sized boat and how much they rock when fishing upfront. It’s a Princecraft v hull. Just bought a Honda ridgeline that I will be towing with is reason for selling glass boat. Not sure it would be great to tow a 3k lb boat.

the beam width will determine a lot of the stability, my deep v seems more stable than my 175 pro crappie up front. but the deep v is 90 inch beam vs 72 :fish
The Honda Ridgeline has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. This makes it suitable for towing small trailers, boats.........

I went the opposite direction you are considering about 10 years ago. I had a Tracker Deep V I fished out of for eight years and went to a 18ft glass boat. I kept the Tracker for a while afterward intending to just use it as a brush boat. After a few months though I decided to sell the Tracker and took it out to run it and make sure everything was still working properly. I literally felt like I was going to tip it over and fall in the lake. Obviously, I fished out of it for years before without incident, but it was a very unnerving feeling after getting used to the stability of a glass boat with trolling motor down fishing up front. You might be able to get used to it but I would strongly recommend finding someone to go out with to see for yourself.
I went from a Tracker PT175 to a Alumacraft Classic SC165 deep V a decade ago for the lower rear deck since I troll for crappie the majority of the trips. I've shot docks from the front to the back in the deep v, no problems with stability or leaning. I'm starting to learn casting to brush piles, etc., and stand on the front using FFS, no problems. I'm the only one in the boat so others moving around is not a concern.
My only concern would be the wind will effect the aluminum boat more. The glass boats set down more in the water.
