Hungry Fish
Attachment 512336
Got up went across the state line and magic happened once again.
Fish bite was light, but often. They preferred hair jigs over plastics, but both worked. The lighter weight the jig the better. Advice, slow down and then multiply that by two times slower and you are perfect. Fish would only hit casted baits. Vertical fishing got absolutely no bites.
Bigger fish were in open water in schools of five to twenty and hungry.
Liked water twelve to fifteen feet deep. Most were moving towards docks, but also swimming away from dock areas. All brush was loaded with bluegill couldn’t get to crappie. The crappie that were on brush was smaller.
Once patterns were established and fished sized up kept twenty-seven caught fifty plus and kept five eleven inch fish all the rest ran twelve to fourteen inches. But best part of day, it was cold for down south, only one boat on river, fish wasn’t spooky.
Filet the fish ended up giving them to an elderly man who has recently lost his wife to cancer and he and his family had a fish fry. A blessed day all in all. Had a lot of fun and in the process accomplished a good deed for others.
