It was Just a Fluke LOZ 12/11 and 12/12
That led me on a path of destruction against green tinted fish on the lower end and lower Gravios. Thursday it was on from start to finish. I started out at a condo dock seawall/rip rap stretch that's almost a sure bet in cold water. I landed a 5 pounder and a few others, then spent the rest of the day in Workman Hollow and Raccoon Hollow Cove with a high catch rate. Friday I tried the very lower end starting in Jennings Branch Cove. I landed a pretty decent fish and lost another on a Mag Fluke. I didn't want to take the wind in mid-December, so I switched sides of the lake hitting up around Harbor Towne and Spinnaker Point Cove, which was slow. I was thinking the hot bite was over and ran to Jackson Branch Cove (Atlantis). From 1100 to when I left at 1550 hours the lights were on. I ran out of white ice, switched to chartreuse, and it was being choked down like it was laced with some kind of drug. Both days all the fish were shallow, some hitting right on the bank. Skipping under dock cables was key, and I ended up adding a nail weight to the Super Fluke head. My gear was a 7 foot medium action spinning rod, 10 pound mono, and a Eagle Claw finese worm hook.....and a 7" 1' med heavy mod action Mojo Bass casting rod with 15 pound mono for the Mag Fluke. I rigged the Mag Fluke with a flipping hook. Unless the cover is very heavy I always rig a Fluke with the hook exposed. The keeper on the hook keeps it buttoned up for a while. If you Texas rig a Fluke you're likely to miss a lot of bites and go through way more baits.
