I was wondering what depths you catch crappie in December and January? On the Warrior and Tombigbee Rivers I never fish deeper that 14 feet deep. The average depth on sunny days is 6-8 feet deep.

I have caught my limit on both those rivers from two foot to thirty foot year round.
It’s nuts never count anything out on those bodies of water where you are. Love that area to fish.
For me it’s finding that pattern and depth every time I go up there.
Short story was up there a few weeks ago on first real cold snap. I turned looking with my FFS and saw what I thought was a pile of the biggest shell crackers or blue gill I have ever seen. Couldn’t resist pitched in less than two foot of water fishing about six inches deep and zipping out of there still thinking I had a state record shell cracker, it was a sixteen inch crappie. I set right there and caught ten from thirteen to sixteen inches long, as fast as I could pitch the jig in. Finally the rest got spooked and stopped biting. If you would have asked me I would have never thought large crappie. I was trying to figure out how some of their backs weren’t out of the water.
Again, love that area for crappie fishing. If you know of a cost effective place to stay up there please let me know. Because it’s a two to three hour drive for me.

Siverroach, I might can help. Where are you launching from? That will tell me who I can put you in contact with.
Foscue boat ramp, City Landing, Forkland and as far north as Jennings Ferry. And there is another one I can’t think of the name just below high way [emoji640][emoji639] bridge and rail road bridge.Quote:

One thing I have learned in that area, I want stay in an area all day covering water that’s not producing. That’s why I launch at a lot of different places. Rather than run the river I will pull out of one place and move to another.
It’s all about finding active fish and their food sources.
So when asking where I launch from can be at least two in the same day sometimes. Just depends. This last time we stayed at Jennings Ferry but never fished there the entire four days we were up there.

Jennings is 20 minutes from my house in Greensboro. Sounds like you know the area well. I don't think a bed & breakfast would fit for you but we have a couple here. Also Demopolis has a few newer motels. Now, my aunt rents a camper from a gentleman in Demopolis who will set up in any of our three parks. I think it's $100.00 a night. If that interest you, I can find out from her and take it from there.
Jay, could be interested in camper setup.
A couple of thoughts, in years past use to duck hunt in the Mississippi delta. Something we found that actually helped others while doing something we enjoyed.
We once found a church that had unfortunately kind of died. We actually rented it from them in which it had everything we needed and came in and setup temporary bedding. It helped them with paying land taxes and such. The good news is we stopped getting to do it because they opened back up later and now is alive and thriving.
We did the same with a couple of small businesses up there.
Also had a man that had an empty pole barn. We rented it for $100.00 a month parked the camper under it and would come pickup and move to local COE campground when we would come up and hunt or fish. So we open to suggestions. Mainly looking for something October through February maybe May.
By the way, if I have a way of contacting you when I’m in area would like to meet and swap fishing stories and such.

I know a man that has a small RV park just outside Greensboro. And a man that has a new RV park with lots available near Demopolis. I think it's near Gallion on hwy 80 east of town. I can put you in touch with either one if your interested.
You mentioned duck hunting. My son has traveled many states after ducks. He also hunts the sound sometimes.
Let me know when your coming up and we'll plan to have lunch together.
Definitely interested in the RV park locations. We are interested in long term. Would like both contacts hopefully we can get gps coordinates.
As for coming that way, trying to get place to stay. But more than likely within next couple of weeks or sooner.
