11/13/2025 Find the GOOD WATER FIND THE SACALAIT
After Physical Therapy and an insurance adjuster meeting I got the boat in the water around 11. Noticed the north wind had pushed the water down over 2 1/2 feet below normal. There was a lot of loose vegetation floating another sign of a big tidal movement. Knowing those sneaky Sacalait NEED TO FOLLOW the clean water I headed south even though the water temps were 10 degrees colder than last week. They need water that is not salty and that is rich in oxygen. Clearer water is a plus too. When the water falls that much on the bayou it sucks the BLACK low oxygen water out the swamp and surrounding marsh. The Sacalait are forced to go south towards the salty lake water. My hunch was right. Found the biggest group of big thick blacks I’ve seen in a long time. Kept 12. 11 blacks and 1 big white.
Lesson today look at ALL the conditions. Colder water is one condition but low oxygen is another more important condition.
BON TEMPS!!
