GOOD BYE AUGUST
It's been typical for August with the heat and all, staying close to home and fishing mostly for bass. Averaging about five bass in a morning before the heat chased me off. Lot's of 15-18" bass. The past few trips with cooler temps I tried fishing for the big grass carp I see occasionally. Hooked one Thursday and when it jumped it landed on the 6# line and broke me off. Saturday I'm giving it another go. First bite on a home made dough bait I hook up but not a carp. A bass had eaten my dough bait. It was a good one too, over 20". That sure don't happen every day. Three trips and zero grass carp but at least the bass are biting and I'm not getting skunked.Attachment 509334Attachment 509335Attachment 509336Attachment 509337

Attachment 509338 Someone released an Oscar at the lake. It was dying when I took the picture. Don't know why people do this.

Very nice bass Jim. Those are lots of fun. I imagine the Oscar got to big for someone’s aquarium so they thought they were being kind and releasing it not knowing it’s probably illegal and possibly deadly for the fish.

Now Hello September! Get after them!

Had an Oscar that got really big, over a lb. Took it to a pet shop and they gave me $20 store credit. Oscars are slimy, even more than trout. Since it was still alive I tried to pick it up and slipped out of my hand twice.
