Lake Wheeler - good place to take the little ones.

For anyone who is looking for a lake to take the little ones for fishing in the Raleigh area, give lake Wheeler a try. Seems like all they have are little yellow perch that wants to steal your minnows. I started fishing with live minnows looking for crappie, but the perch keeps taking the bait. So I switched over to dead minnows and just move the rod back and fourth every 15 seconds to make the minnow look like its swimming. Not much waiting, which is good for the little ones. They are all under the fishing pier on the bottom. They took dead minnows and maggots so far.
