Has anyone here tried changing out the rear treble for an inline crank bait hook? I've bought some and going to try them. I usually troll near wood and thought they may help with snags. I may just try taking off the front treble and just run with a single inline hook. I know and am used to losing a few cranks but looking for ways to reduce losses and still have a good hook up rate.

I’ve trolled with cranks a good bit and I’ve tried removing the front treble and left the rear on with good enough results. I’ve also traded a bronze middle hook for a red one and as I remember that also did well. I never tried a single in-line hook on a crappie but I have on redfish and snook and seatrout. They performed well and keep in mind these fish are violent in comparison. What I’m sure of is that it’s much safer to unhook a thrashing fish with singles. I never saw a big difference in the hookup or retained fish loss from the singles.
I used to pull cranks but don't like the heat anymore, so.... I always removed the front treble and just went wit the rear treble. Don't think I missed many with that set up.
I've not swapped treble for single hooks before, although I did use a stinger hook about 6-12" back that had a single hook with good hookups.
Not exactly the same but I tried the in line single hooks on blade baits that I use to catch white bass. All I can remember is it seemed to stop me from catching many fish. The double treble hooks on a thrashing around fish made me want to lessen the danger and the reviews I read said that the hookup rates were about the same. As with most things your experience my be totally different. I think there is a reason why they come with the treble hooks ,however the trout guys are required to use single hooks with no barbs in some places .I think you are going to have to try it yourself and see if you can make it work for you.
