Quick Shot of Yesterday's Crappie Lunch

Yesterday was Independence Day but I was anything but independent from my truck repair so lunch was a quick Crappie fry. I sliced up my first Bon Temps' Eggplant of the season along with some Monster Button Mushrooms to fry along side the fish.

The secret to a great crust of fish fry on mushrooms is to leave them with just the flour coating for 10 minutes before the buttermilk egg wash. I use 2 forks to handle them into the fish fry which they stay there for 5 minutes before frying. Going back to work on the truck was tough after this meal. That Catalina Dressing is just fine on fried Eggplant!

Too late, I looked. Fish looks good even the mushrooms but I know better on those. :Rofl

The whole meal is AWESOME! Cant beat those Crispy fried not MUSHy goodies with ROOM for seconds….

Man, every time I cook Mushrooms in something I'm going to post I think of you. We LOVE fried mushrooms. OMG, I even eat mushrooms on scrambled eggs. When Shoney's was open and had the breakfast buffet I would get a plate of grits, pile scrambled eggs over the top, coved them mushrooms, then dip that cheese sauce all over everything till is pooled to the rim of the plate. I had to walk back to the table very carefully so not to spill cheese sauce on the floor.

I have 2 friends families who I cook for and both won't eat mustard or mayonnaise so the list food they miss out of is long. At least your list of revolting groceries is short.

We must be brothers from another mother. I did the exact same thing for breffast at Shoneys too! My list of won’t eat foods is less than 5. Brussel Sprouts, Beets, top the list.
