Pond hopping behind my house
With work and the wet weather we've been having i haven't been able to get out to Slidell to check on my brush piles or plant new piles, so I decided to wet a line in the pond behind the house to see if the bluegill and chinquipin (shell crackers) are starting to bed. As soon as i walked up to the pond I noticed Muddy water and swells next to the banks. You could literally smell the fish they were so thick in the shallows. Shell crackers and bluegill were making beds getting ready for the spawn. Picked up the ultra-lite with the 1" Berkley Gulp minnow under a cork paired with a 1/32 oz orange jighead. Fish were very aggressive and were hungry. Picked up several good sized bluegill, shell crackers and a decent sized bass before calling it a day. My next trip to drop some more brush piles and check on existing piles should be soon.
