Fellows this might be old news but a crab fork will make your life so easy removed hooks from the crappie mouth or throat. No matter how deep he sucks it in using the fork to remove the hook you will wonder how you ever did without one.
It also works great on shell cracker and blue gill. You’ll save a lot of fish you want to catch and release.

It will be the best five bucks you will ever spend.
They come in sets of four. So I have one in the front of my boat and one in the back for fishing partners. You can drill a small hole in the end of it and put a lanyard or small string to keep it handy and tie off to side of your boat.

That’s neat and easy enough. Thanks for sharing. I took an old toothbrush and cut the head off and notched a V in it for a hook remover. Works pretty good.

Looks like what Victor on ifish on YouTube uses. Never seen it fail.

I still have my pliers as they still work best especially on catfish and gar. Like with me hard to teach old dogs new tricks. But it really comes into play with saving shorts, bream and keeps me from bending hooks as much on those expensive hand ties when I have to use them.
I just noticed over the last several months the old pliers are staying in their holster a lot more these days using these inexpensive alternatives. But Rojo you live in a part of the country where you probably have them in your kitchen drawer. Having those crabs almost in your back door to eat fresh. Yum!

Looks like a great idea! I have the one that Rapala makes with the small hook shape on the end, and it works pretty well, but a lot of times, it's almost too big to get where it needs to be. Going to order this now (could have definitely used these yesterday on a couple of small sacalait). Thank you for sharing!

Hope it helps! I have just noticed over the last few months of using it after a friend asked me had I ever used one, that my old handy pliers were staying put away. I also noticed my fish weren’t getting injured as much. Like I responded to Rojo, I still keep pliers handy removing hooks from gar and catfish. But for crappie and bream it’s going to be hard to beat for speed and quickness. I have learned if you will keep slight tension on the line it even works better. Good luck and tight lines.
