Another fine Wednesday
As I stated in one of my lasts posts Wednesday night shooting is open at our local club. So I headed up and shot a few rounds of skeet followed by dinner. After cleaning up I realized it was early enough to wet a line. I arrived at the local water at 6:50. Temperature out 58 with a slight breeze. First cast nothing, second cast was game on, I started with a chartreuse RR with an acid rain color Kalins crappie scrub. That would be successful for 3-4 nice keepers. Things slowed up a bit so I grabbed another pole rigged with a fisheye jig head and a blue/silver shad which proved very successful until the sun ducked below sight, Then back to the RR.
I have a friend who has cancer and is pretty tuckered out lately for fishing so this bounty was for him, I'll deliver them in the morning.
Kept 11 and caught at least that many more plus a couple bluegill, no bass for me tonight.
A friend of mines two sons were bass fishing, so we had a good time chatting while fishing. The older son works with my boy and shad told him he was fishing. My son showed shortly after and caught a nice bass on his first cast. A couple casts later he snapped off, so of course dad had to get him hooked up again (pun intended). Good time had by all.
I left at 8:00 to head home and clean fish. About the time I finished my son came home and said the crappie really turned on after I left and that the yellow jig and chartreuse frog I set him up with worked great (note to self!)
