BLACK COLORED WATER QUESTION

I went to a new place to fish over the weekend. Off the river which was falling I pulled into a creek that had black looking water and the blowdowns had like grass and moss on them. Had to clean off my roadrunner more than usual. chart/white roadrunner caught 2 nice white crappie. They were out in the midde about 4-5 feet deep. Creek is only 9 feet deep. Only saw a few shad flipping around. Thinking about going back and corking them with a jig tomorrow.
What color would you use in that color water?

I like Chartreuse White like you used. Could try something dark like Black Chartreuse. The slower presentation might help.

Are we talkin' clear water with a dark bottom background, or actual "blackish" water from a certain source ??

Clear water/dark bottom ... I'd go with white, chartreuse, or pink (solo or in combo). If the water itself is dark, I'd just use a jig body that provided more vibrations (like a boot tail grub), or stick with your Road Runner.

If I was gonna "cork/jig" them ... I'd put a black/char Slab Caller jig under a really small float.

CP, it's not clear with a green or black bottom. It's not dingy or muddy. It reminds me of backwater places I see along the gulf coast where the water looks black. My jig was visible to about 18 inches but it was completely overcast. It had been a very foggy morning.
Maybe just me, but when I fish in fog the bite is very slow. What about y'all?
