Breezy trip, 4-24
I took a short trip after work today to see if the fish have become more active in response to the recent warm days we've had. I was happy to see the water temperature up to 58-59 over most of the water I covered tonight. I was set up and fishing at 4:40, air temp at 72 with the wind from the SW.
I worked my way along the shore, casting the shallow water with decent success. Bluegills, bass and small pickerel would put a bend in my poles for the first hour, as well as a single yellow perch.

A good cast close to a dock would reward me with the only crappie of the night. Repeated casts back to that area would come up empty.

I'd have a total of 10 on the clicker as 6:25 rolled by. I abandoned the shoreline and headed more or less back toward the landing via the deep basin and to my surprise the action would pick up nicely. I began marking fish suspended about 15-18' over the deep water and they couldn't resist the Roadrunner with a triple tail grub. I'd land an additional 10 fish in the next 20 minutes or so, all nice bluegill between 8 & 9". They then shut right off and I called it a night just before 7.
All were returned for another time. One of those basin 'gills had no upper lip at all; looked weird as all get out. I should have snapped a picture. I also had a fly-by from the bald eagle. He lit in a tree way down the pond and I never saw him again.
A good time was had and I'm ready for my next trip, maybe on Sunday as rain is in the forecast for most of Saturday.

Nicely done! I didn't figure our water temp would be up that high just yet but it makes sense after my last two trips.
